In an earlier post, I mentioned Flannery O’Connor and I have to admit I haven’t read nearly enough of her work! What she has to say here stings just a little bit:
Everywhere I go, I’m asked if I think the universities stifle writers. My opinion is that they don’t stifle enough of them. There’s many a best seller that could have been prevented by a good teacher.
I say a little bit, because I make no pretense of being a writer or best selling author. But, I am putting myself out there and here’s what you can expect to see beyond the quotes. Soon, I’ll be posting my book about Richard Baxter and a paper about the Baha’i Faith I delivered to symposium on world religions almost 25 years ago. Then, some newer work should begin appearing. I will also be working on the layout of the site and gaining some new fangled web development skills. The web has unstifled millions of writers, but I’ll do my best to avoid becoming the kind of hack that would irritate Flannery.
